Among the most beautiful hiking trails is that of Pic Carlit and its summit which culminates at 2,921 meters above sea level. One of the trails is for seasoned hikers for a duration of 5h30 over 13km. While those looking for a more accessible path, can take the loop of the nine ponds of Carlit over a period of 1h30.


Another path that is worth the detour, that of the Carança gorges . Over 17 km, the most athletic hikers will find rope bridges, cornice passages, not to mention breathtaking landscapes!

Take the GR10 in the Pyrénées Orientales

Experienced hikers will probably opt for the GR10 which connects Banyuls sur Mer to Vernet on the section of the Pyrénées-Orientales.

Hike to the Pic du Canigou

While those who go to Arles-sur-Tech , less than 30 minutes from the Vallée campsite, can take one of the five hiking trails.

Where to see marmots in the Pyrénées-Orientales?

The marmot disappeared from the Pyrenees at the end of the last ice age, but it has been successfully reintroduced to the Pyrenees since 1948. Today, the marmot inhabits the valleys of all the Pyrenees. Being able to observe them should therefore not be a problem for hikers who wish to do so.

They can be found in Font-Romeu in particular, from where hikes dedicated to the observation of marmots are organised. Added to this is Le Madres, which rises to 2469 meters above sea level and dominates the northern slope of Conflent Canigó, Conflent Canigó. Les Angles animal park

To go further, hikers who wish to observe wildlife can also go to the Animal Park Les Angles . The animal park allows you to observe animals from the region during a pleasant family walk. Three routes more or less fast are proposed. On site, you can observe large enclosures for bears, wolves, marmots , deer, deer, bison, etc. In addition, it takes a little over two hours to complete the long route.
